Development and career growth within the team are signs of a healthy corporate culture. If promotions used to happen behind the scenes, now they are a source of pride and an excellent opportunity to motivate employees — which we are happy to do publicly! Today, we congratulate Yevheniia Hres on her new position as Financial Director at Accounting HUB.
We sat down with Yevheniia to discuss her career path, her vision of the profession, and her advice for the next generation of financial specialists.
Yevheniia, you started your journey in the company as a Senior Accountant, and after almost four years, you've become the group's Financial Director. What essential skills and qualities helped you achieve this career growth?
First, you must genuinely enjoy what you do and feel it's your calling. As for skills and qualities, I highlight analytical thinking, flexibility, adaptability to changes and new challenges, and attention to detail. These traits not only helped me do my job well but also took initiative.
What was the biggest challenge on your path to becoming a Financial Director? How did you overcome difficulties, and what advice would you give to those aspiring to grow their careers in finance?
My biggest challenge was adapting to budgeting and managing expenses to meet market demands. I overcame difficulties only through open communication with colleagues, always following the principle of "don't be afraid of mistakes — they are part of the process."
My advice to those aiming for career growth in finance is to always be adaptable and flexible to changes. Success is not just about results but also the process. Never settle for less — keep learning and attend courses and webinars, as knowledge is your most potent weapon.
How do you evaluate your team's role in your career growth? Was there someone who acted as a mentor for you, and what do you consider essential in creating an effective work environment?
The team is one of the most important factors. I believe that great success is only possible through well-coordinated teamwork. The team I work with is not just colleagues but true partners in achieving our goals. We support each other and share knowledge, which creates incredible synergy.
As for mentorship, I am honored to work with Oksana Kochmarska, the founder of the Accounting HUB group, who taught me to think strategically. She always emphasizes the importance of open communication and trust within the team.
The most important ingredient in creating an effective work environment is a positive atmosphere in which all team members feel valued and free to express their ideas and thoughts.
